Refund policy
100% one-time refund within 30 days of purchase
Digital refund details
Photos, screenshots, or a detailed description of the issue must be sent to hello@smidgenpress.com within 30 days of purchase.
This 100% policy extends to the customer's first purchase of an ebook and the purchase of an audiobook, whether both formats are purchased in the same order or purchased at different times.
Ebooks and audiobooks are delivered via BookFunnel. We anticipate readers will need time to load and test the ebook files on their devices, so 30 days allows purchasers to notify us of any issues. BookFunnel support can be reached at BookFunnel.com/help, or email hello@smidgenpress.com.
If the purchaser is unable to access their file(s) after working with both BookFunnel and Smidgen Press support, or otherwise is displeased with the ebook experience after their first purchase, we will refund 100% of the digital purchase amount. For purchases beyond the first, our baseline policy is, as with many businesses selling digital items, no refunds for digital products--but we will consider each refund request on a case-by-case basis and may stand by our no-refund policy or may choose to offer store credit or a full refund.
Print books: cancellations, replacements, and refunds
Canceling a print order
For a very short window of time following a purchase, we may be able to cancel an order in our printing partner's system. This is outside our processing system so we cannot make any guarantees.
Emails requesting a cancellation must be sent to hello@smidgenpress.com with the word URGENT in the subject line, and our team will check the status of our third-party printer and cancel it if possible. We will reply to update you. Normal business hours are between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time (USA) but email is not monitored constantly.
Lost shipments: not considered "lost" if it's less than 30 days (or 45 AU/NZ).
Unless a fast shipping method is chosen, our books ship with what is basically international media mail. This allows us to save on shipping cost, but it is not fast, and we will not take steps regarding a "lost" package until a minimum of 30 days after purchase for US/Canada, and 45 days for Australia/NZ. This is our process:
- After the purchaser contacts hello@smidgenpress.com to explain the issue, we will check the tracking information, which is the same as what gets sent to the buyer.
- We will either respond with any additional information, or we will reach out to the printing facility for clarification with the shipping company.
- If either of those deem an item to be lost, the printing company will reprint and ship the order at no additional charge, sent at the original shipping speed.
- Smidgen Press may also opt to replace with an item from limited stock on hand, depending on availability.
Misprinted books: contact us within 14 days of delivery.
If an item is misprinted, photos of the issue must be sent within 14 days of delivery receipt to hello@smidgenpress.com. If a misprint is determined to be greater than our printing partner's 2mm variation allowance, or is otherwise an error, we will contact the company about replacing the item, shipped at the original speed. Smidgen Press may also opt to replace an item from limited stock on hand, depending on availability.
Refunding a print order
In the US, if the purchaser opts out of a replacement for damaged or misprinted items, the damaged item should be sent to Smidgen Press prior to refund. Here is our policy:
- Buyer is responsible for return shipping cost.

- Upon approval, the damaged item must be shipped to Smidgen Press, 5702 G. W. Memorial Hwy., Unit #2273, Yorktown VA 23692.
Shipping costs are nonrefundable. We collect shipping on behalf of the print company, but this is passed directly through to them. Refund amount is the purchase price plus taxes only.
Packages of "buy print get digital" discounts mean the full-price equivalent of any accompanying digital item(s) will be calculated for a print-item refund.
Payment will be refunded to the original purchase method and will be processed after receipt and inspection of the item(s).
For purchases outside the US, or which cannot be replaced or otherwise made right, Smidgen Press reserves the right to issue store credit only, with the specifications listed above.
